Description:

This book details a rural wireless broadband initiative carried out by a group of small businesses and dedicated volunteers in order to bring 21st century communications to their community. Broadband is SO important to businesses today, and this community was out of reach of the incumbent telco, BT, and alternatives eg satellite.

As a broadband notspot, stuck on dial up Internet connections, they set to and provided their own affordable broadband telecommunications network using wireless infrastructure and available expertise.

Wennet, Lancashire, UK now reaches more than 40 users, and the effects are felt throughout the community - businesses, families and individuals.

A dedicated rural village made this happen. It added quality of life to their families and access to education that is the key to power. Well done, and I highly recommend this resource to other communities...where there is a will there is a way

Very well written, real life experiences of a community that were out of reach of conventional brooadband via their telephone exchange. Shows the human angle and how the solution was solved. I hope that some of the funders and government agencies read this and realise what a difference community broadband can make to the digital divide.

Some excellent photography and descriptions. Well done to all concerned, especially to Chris and Deb at Wray who worked so hard to ensure this project came about and that the installations ran smootly, to Lins for her effort in making sure that we forever have a record of how the problem was solved. Also many thanks to the funders for believing in this community, having the faith that they could JFDI.

This book is superbly written and illustrated, and it holds the attention of the reader all the way through.

It should be read by every politician in the country, to help them realise that the Job is not done, and the digital divide grows ever wider, with the rural population now severely disadvantaged by lack of access to modern methods of communication.

I got involved with the Wray project as a means of getting a broadband connection for myself, my husbands'farm business and my kids.

The Wray project led to the JFDI Wennington network, and working together with other groups and partners we managed to build a bridge.

I think Lindsey has done a great job and highly recommend the book. It's a must read for all communities and will inspire them to JEDI. We did it, and You CAN do it.
