Tom Turner is better known for his non-fiction publications (check out the gorgeous Justice on Earth & Wild by Law on Powells or Amazon) but he clearly has the chops for fiction. I believe this is his first fiction foray, a detective story set in his native SF Bay Area. The protagonist is a traditional hard-boiled detective with a soft side, and Tom clearly had fun creating the character & writing the story. Recommended for a fun fast read.
