A story of lost love, heartache, and the power of faith, “The Fragrance of You” is told with Robert Sammelin’s haunting art and Steven Savil’s gift for poignant storytelling. This is an amazing story, well worth adding to any graphic novel collection.

Savile offers us a tale of personal redemption, whose wounded protagonist must deal with supernatural eruptions commensurate with his griefs. My favourite here was "The Fragrance of You" in which an artist connects with the daughter of a children's book author at the authors funeral only to learn that the fables he once illustrated hold more than he imagined.

The Fragrance of You, is an exceptional, immersive story, much like in Jonathan Carroll's Land of Laughs, an author's literary landscape literally comes to life.

If there are secrets, as in the Grimm's fairy tale nightmare of "The Fragrance of You," there may well be good reasons that such things are hidden. In some cases, the wistful protagonist learns, you need to just take such gifts on faith; it isn't necessary to understand everything around us. Some things we can just be grateful for, and enjoy as long as they last.
